At Tuesday's morning meeting we heard from our recently arrived inbound exchange student Abril Feste Fugil and from Adler Howe, who has returned to River Falls after a full year as an exchange student in Czechia, a/k/a the Czech Republic. Abril provided a very good presentation about her character, her family, her friends and hobbies in Spain, and about her town and the region of Catalonia, where she and her family live. She told us about her goals for her year in the US. Her year thus far has included Homecoming as well as playing on the high school's tennis team. Adler had the unusual experience of living not only with multiple families but in two different places. He started in a small town with one family, then moved into Prague with his second host family. Adler told us about what each place was like, and he shared some highlights of the year, including a ski trip and a "Euro trip" to see some of the major cities and sights in Europe. He shared that the group he skied with had to travel to Slovakia to find snow. Just like Wisconsin, Czechia this last year had an unusually mile winter. In response to a question, Adler said that he managed to pick up a fair amount of the difficult language in Czechia. It sounded like he was "pretty good at picking up the Czech". |
