Casey is a senior interested in studying Business next year at UW-Madison. Lindsey is the daughter of River Falls Rotarian, Gordy Young, and a junior at the high school.
Casey and Lindsey attended Camp Enterprise (Camp E) November 7-9, 2019 at YMCA Camp Ihduhapi in Loretto, MN.
The camp is for students interested in learning more about business, leadership, entrepreneurship, and the free enterprise system in a unique and intensive fun 3-day workshop.
Camp E is designed to introduce students to the free enterprise system and encourage entrepreneurship and ethical business practices. Students also learn the core values of Rotary, including “Service Above Self” and the Four-Way Test. The camp does not limit attendance to the students with the best grades or most extra-curricular activities. It is interested in students with an interest in entrepreneurship who have a positive attitude.
Camp attendees are divided into teams with a counselor and mentor who are professionals and, in many cases, Rotarians. Each team is assigned a case study and tasked with developing a business plan with the goal of making the pitch to potential investors in their companies.
Casey's team won its section with a project on solar panels. Lindsey's group collaborated on an innovative medical dispensing device.
The entire cost of the camp was paid for by the local Rotary club.
