In addition to hosting an abbreviated but spirited and informative game of Rotary Jeopardy, District Governor Patricia McCleese told us about District 5960's focus on membership and focus on action. She mentioned the recent Conference of Clubs, noting that it was moved to the fall to allow for the spring peace initiative.
Governor McCleese summarized the District directions in a few slides and key bullet points. Growing membership in D5960 by a net of 100 in 3 years works out to about a net of 1 new member per club per year. Patricia pointed to 4 outcomes/actions: increasing our impact, expand our reach, enhance participant engagement, and increase our ability to adapt. She then described the District's Vision and Mission with 3 supporting points: using RI's strategies from research on the activities and passions of clubs to direct the District, Zone, and RI. Leadership and promoting the value of Rotary are parts of the overall action plan.
About the District Governor: Patricia describes herself as a servant leader. She has served as a teacher, reading specialist, teacher trainer, and principal over her 30 year career in Atlanta Public Schools. Upon retiring to Rochester, MN Patricia worked as a volunteer coordinator for Habitat for Humanity. She served on the Minnesota Association of Volunteer Administrators and trained volunteer administrators. She also tutors children with dyslexia in the Reading Champion Program at the Rochester Public Library. She joined Rotary in 2007 and has served in a variety of club and district leadership positions. She is honored to serve as District 5960's District Governor.
