Rick Wilson provided a summary of how the Rotary District Grant process works and how it helped us fund the pavilion project as a 100% Rotary-funded benefit to the School District and community. JW Matheson reminded us that our Rotary Foundation donations are invested by RI and that a portion of those funds come back to our district to fund projects such as ours.
The total cost of our project was just under $45,000, with $7180 coming from District Grant funds and another $7000 from other Rotary clubs. Some of the other clubs' funds were mutual support while other funds came from clubs whose projects our club has contributed to in past years. Rick noted that a benefit of participating in the District Grants process is that we learn more about good work going on in our district as well as projects that clubs sponsor with global impact.
