Our zoom meeting welcomed Cathy McDonald, Team Director, for the St. Croix Valley Youth Mountain Bike Club.
Established in 2014, St. Croix Valley Youth Mountain Bike Club is for Middle & High School Boys and Girls grades 6-12.
It also has a club for grades 4-5.
All of the riders get training in off road riding by a large group of trained coaches and ride leaders.
All young riders will start with learning the basic skills of stopping, turning, and bike position. Riders will grow in skills and have the opportunity to race their bikes against other kids through the summer and fall.
Nobody is ever cut from our team, there are no try outs, and everyone gets to race if they want to.
The club practices at the Whitetail Ridge Bike Trails located in the River Falls Industrial Park. Chad and Cathy discussed the benefits of having riders from all over the Twin Cities utilize these trails and visit River Falls. The club hopes that the undeveloped field that they use in the Industrial Park is not sold and asked for Rotary's support in keeping this field area undeveloped and a dedicated green space.
