Presidential Recognition and Transition:  This month's social gathering, at Junior's at 5 PM on Wednesday June 24th,will be our occasion to honor George Ball for his year as president of our club as the office transitions to Jim DiPeso next month.  Let's have a good turnout; even if you're not a 5:01 regular, please join us for this annual event.

 

The Presentation:  What did the River Falls area look like 250 years ago? The River Falls Historic Preservation Commission will install a display at the River Falls Library next week that takes a look at the region in 1776, long before the city of River Falls existed. Jayne gave us a preview of her research that examines the geology that shaped the landscape, the Dakota and Ojibwe peoples who lived in and traveled through the area, and what was happening in Wisconsin and across North America at the time.  A pdf of Jayne's slides is available by clicking DOWNLOAD FILES at the bottom of this Tidings.

St. Croix Valley Food Bank Open House:  On Wednesday September 16th, the SCV Food Bank is having an open house to show off the impressive-looking new building along northbound Highway 35.  The flyer, which you can see by clicking READ MORE   notes that the event is outdoors in a tent on an active construction site.  It says "Please dress accordingly and wear appropriate footwear".  There is an RSVP phone number and email:
