Rosa Magnus introduced herself and provided her view of the River Falls Chamber of Commerce using the theme “Turning Points and Touchstones”. She’s been Chamber’s CEO for 5 months, and she shared details about herself and the journey so far. Rosa kindly provided a copy of her slides – click on Download Files below.
She is originally from Texas, a suburb north of Houston. Rosa said her priorities are family and service to others. Her husband Jeff and 2 sons 17 and 15 are all outdoorsmen. Jeff manages the Michael’s store in Hudson. She listed her strengths as being passionate, organized, and giving, and she has volunteer interests in Special Olympics, School, Food Pantries, and Cancer. Rosa has worked at numerous non-profits over 26 years. Started with a K-Mart kids racing event. In San Antonio sje worked for an advocacy agency – AARC. She also noted time with Hudson Hospital, Special Olympics, and Western Wisconsin Health prior to taking on the CEO role at the Chamber here.
Ms. Magnus sees the main goals for the Chambe as fostering connections between businesses, community members, and visitors. The ultimate goal is to build a strong, sustainable economy that supports our investors and enhances the quality of life in River Falls.
Some background: the River Falls Chamber of Commerce is a 501c6 , a non-profit serving the business sector. 3 main areas are signature events, memberships and sponsorships, and tourism. The Chamber staff consists of the CEO, membership engagement manager, and marketing and communications manager. Volunteers are particularly essential for event success. Events include the Bluegrass Festival, River Falls Days, Bacon Bash, and River Dazzle. [If you don’t know when they are, then you haven’t been paying attention! – ed. 😉]
Programming includes the Chamber coffee every 1st Friday; awards banquet, golf outing, new teacher breakfast, leadership RF, 4th annual workforce summit.
Committees: Business, Education, Leadership, Link: Tourism, Ambassadors, Government Relations Committee. Two websites: RF Chamber, Experience RF (tourism focus). Looking to revive Ambassadors program, which kind of fell off.
Rosa's hopes and aspirations for the Chamber: grow, network, develop through listening, being present & available, and advocating for the community.
