River Falls Rotary sponsored two River Falls High School students who participated in District 5960's Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awakening), which is held at YMCA Camp St. Croix. The RFHS students this year were Angela Miller and Astrid Downey.

They reported that campers worked 12 hours a day on group leadership activities, with the biggest complaint being having to start the day at 6 AM, then ending their day at midnight. The two RFHS students were assigned to different groups to reinforce learning to work with people that they don't know well. Team activities included the egg drop challenge (where their eggs did not fare well), designing t-shirts, rock climbing, a blindfold maze, Karaoke, skits and other skill-building activities.

They said they learned how to be brave, work in a team, ask for help, problem solve and compromise, get to know people quickly, and focus on the other person’s strengths.
