This week’s NOON meeting*** -- FIELD TRIP!*** See and hear about the improvements at Carpenter Nature Center’s Wisconsin site, including the new shelter building.
We’re taking a break from the Lunch Mob at noon this month. Instead we’ve been invited to get a look at and tour the nearly completed shelter at 279 South Cove Road in Troy township (see map and more by clicking Read More below.)
*** - NOTE: We are keeping a close eye on the weather (winter storm warning for Hudson, where we'll be headed) and predictions of snow Monday and Tuesday in River Falls. Watch for an email Monday early afternoon to update you on whether or not we'll proceed with the meeting/tour at CNC.
CNC will have several of its staff there to give us a very thorough tour. The construction company’s site superintendent on the project will be there, and he will act as a co-tour guide for the visit. CNC Board President Paul Gerbec will also help host the tour. Scott Northard, the board member in charge of the project will be there if his schedule permits (Scott is a Rotarian).
Here is what to expect:
- The tour will be mostly indoors as the exterior landscaping and walkways have not been completed yet.
- There is heat in the building, which is enclosed and will be almost complete by the time of our tour.
- There currently isn’t any seating inside; if there are any Rotarians who need seating Carpenter says that they can arrange that. Let Rick Wilson know.
- Jen Vieth will also be bringing the CNC education ambassador Barred Owl for you to meet, which should be a fun treat!
As for COVID safety precautions, Carpenter Nature Center has been strongly recommended masking in our facilities, but doesn’t currently require masks indoors; nor do we require proof of vaccination.
